What are Minecraft Color Codes?
Minecraft color codes and format codes are special character sequences used to add color and styling (like bold, italic, or strikethrough) to text within the game. This includes chat messages, server MOTDs (Message of the Day), scoreboards, and armor text.
Internally, Minecraft uses the section sign (`§`) for formatting. However, most server plugins and configurations allow users to use the ampersand (`&`) for easier typing. For example, typing `&c` turns the following text red, and `&l` makes it bold. Our live preview tool allows you to write and test your formatting directly in the browser, saving you the hassle of reloading server files to check your designs.
