About Energy Units

Energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to a body or physical system to perform work or heat it. Understanding different energy units is vital for physics, nutrition, and electricity management.

Joule (J)

The standard International System of Units (SI) unit for energy. One joule is defined as the work done by a force of one newton acting through one meter (1 N·m).

Watt-hour (Wh) System

Widely used in the electrical industry to bill energy consumption. A Watt-hour is the amount of energy equivalent to a power of one Watt sustained for one hour. Since 1 Watt equals 1 Joule per second, and an hour has 3600 seconds, 1 Watt-hour is exactly equal to 3,600 Joules.
